Vistara Faces Scrutiny Over Flight Disruptions: DGCA Demands Compliance
Following a surge in flight disruptions by Vistara Airlines, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has mandated daily reports from the airline detailing cancelled or delayed flights.
Citing reasons such as crew unavailability, DGCA Director General Vikram Dev Dutt emphasized compliance with provisions ensuring passenger facilitation, including advance information, refund options, and compensation if applicable.
DGCA officials are monitoring compliance to minimize passenger inconvenience. The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) clarified that while monitoring the situation, flight operations are managed by airlines themselves, with compliance to DGCA norms essential for passenger facilitation
Vistara acknowledged the uptick in cancellations and delays due to crew unavailability and other factors, expressing concern for customer inconvenience. The airline aims to minimize discomfort by temporarily reducing flight numbers, deploying larger aircraft on select routes, and ensuring adequate connectivity across their network.
